Appointments..
Well I think sometimes people think i have nothing better to do. A wasted evening yesterday, spent sat in the Hospital waiting room for my Consultant who it turned out had *been called away*.. great.. and I couldnt have been told before wasting an hour? Anyway.. I was took in to see a Locum.. who although he was very nice, didn't know me or the complexities of my case, so I basically had to start from scratch and try to explain why I was there..
To cut a long story short, he has asked me to return at a later date to see the Original Consultant i was supposed to see.. grrr..
I wonder if this will ever get sorted, I feel I am being thrown back and forwards to Specialists, none of which are willing to make that decision, or advise me as to my best course of action to take..
On a lighter note, we have decided to take a day off and go to Howletts Conservation zoo, so hopefully some lovely photo opportunites.. Hope it stays dry, it is a long way to drive, and dont want all the animals sheltering as we stand there like a couple of wet blankets..LOL..

Missing in Action
I have sorely neglected my blog of late.. for good reasons, and some that I am really only becoming to come to terms with.
My health at this time is not good. Although I feel well within myself, I have a couple of things that I have had for many years that have not really given me any cause for concern.
However, it looks as though that is set to change this year. My protein levels in my regular blood tests were showing abnormalities, and on further investigation, which involved a week in hospital in Birmingham, a couple of major problems have surfaced. To cut a long story short, I have to have surgery, for one or the other, maybe even both.. By far the most frustrating part is the waiting and hanging on while the Specialists make their minds up which is most serious and which to do first.
In the meantime, we are to wait, and can't plan anything, or go anywhere long term in case we are called back for an appointment..
So.. watch this space, I will be writing down as much as I can, as it should help me with getting through this, to vent my frustrations and just even seeing it in print helps.

Newbury Craft fair
I went to my first craft fair yesterday..Goodness, I have never seen anything like it. I guess in years gone by I dint think it would be any different to what you can get online.. how wrong was I! The selection is massive, though the lack of tools was disappointing.
I bought lots of goodies, I will put up some photos later. Special thanks to Mickey who was running the ATC make and take, and all the ladies who were so nice to me as I was on my own, as I walked around.
I wish I had more time to talk to the lady with the *shadow fairy* stamps.. there were ready made cards on display and they were totally amazing. They looked far too artistic for me to attempt.. but were incredibly detailed and beautiful.

Cruel world
Isnt nature cruel sometimes.. My boss called in this morning to say she was running late because she had let her sons guinea pigs out into the garden, like she did every morning, and while she was getting him ready for school, some magpies attacked and killed one and traumatised the other two.. She said it was like a scene from Texas chainsaw massacre, with blood, and bits everywhere. it was a mad rush to get her son onto his school bus so as he wouldnt see.
She took the remaining two guinea pigs to the vet and they were put on anti biotics, have very nasty beak marks on their small bodies, but are alive.
I dont envy her the task of breaking the news to her son. But the magpies were gathering again as soon as she had got him onto the bus.. needless to say, no more free ranging for these lil critters!

Life..
Well its a funny old world isnt it.. Life carries on no matter what happens. A dear friend of mine has been told his carcenoma is back, and yet it seems so unfair, the last lot he had he fought so long and hard through all the awful treatment, and has been clear for about a year.. the other day he felt rough.. and if the inconclusive tests are correct.. he may well have it more severe than before.
What can you say to someone who has just been told its not only back but worse than before, and to prepare for endless tests, hospital stays etc if thats the case. For my part I am going to try to make something inspirational for him to keep his spirits up.. its the least I can do.

3 Lions..
I'm not claiming to be a football expert.. far from it. But was what I witnessed yesterday really the best team England can offer?
They are all overpaid, underperforming, pretty useless prima donnas from what I have seen of them. It is so frustrating because the whole Country gets behind them, people spent thousands and thousands to get to South Africa, such was their belief and passion. What do they get for their loyalty? A team who dont seem to know what they are meant to be doing, dont seem to know their team mates and dont seem interested in the fact that they are representing our footie mad nation.
I would not want to be a Manager of them for anything, but if I was, i would go to the lower league clubs and ask who fancied playing for their Country.. I bet some of them would play their hearts out for the chance..

Patriotism
This time last year, Alan and I were in USA. We actually went twice last year, once for the twins 18 birthday and then again just the two of us because I was desperate to be in the USA for Independence day.
I know alot don't like the USA because it is big, brash and yes can be very *in your face*, but we love it. Everything about it, in particular the patriotism, it wouldn't be a bad thing for some of the UK to be more patriotic. I know we can do it, you only have to look at the current enthusiasm for England in the World Cup. But whats the betting, once the games are over, the flags will come down..
